30th Anniversary Legado Tawny Port

Each year we keep a section of our low yielding Taylor River block 7 Pinot Noir vineyard netted to protect it from birds, then wait until late into the season before hand picking the super ripe Pinot Noir grapes for this fortified wine.

Using traditional techniques the grapes were foot stomped, fermented with regular plunging and fortifying spirit added. To make this special release wine, one barrel each from the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages were left to age for an average of 9 years in these old oak barrels prior to this special release bottling.

This Tawny style wine, produced by extended maturation in old barrels, has developed decadent flavors of caramel, toffee, plum, raisin, and walnut and will drink well for many years to come. Marries perfectly with the rich tangy flavours of full flavoured cheese. A very special wine made in tiny quantities, worthy of celebrating the milestone of 30 years at Wither Hills.
